CBD Oil FAQS

What to Look for when Buying CBD Oil

All CBD oils are not created equal.  Why use a product if it's not a quality product?  Here are some tips for finding quality CBD oils.

1. Ask where the hemp was grown, that created the oil you are considering purchasing. Hemp comes from all over the world, and some countries have very lax restrictions on pesticides etc. Look for products using locally grown natural hemp. BluLeaf is grown and created in Kentucky.

2. Look at the concentration of actual CBD in the product. Concentrations of CBD vary widely, and you want a product that lists it's actual concentration on the bottle.

3. Purchase products that offer third party analysis. This means the product has been tested by an unbiased lab to ensure the safety and quality of your product.

4. Buy from a company that offers you ways to reach them with questions; like an email, phone number or website on the bottle.

5. Look for CBD products that are sold legally; this means the company selling the product is legally compliant and with full transparency.

6. Buy products that are safely packaged and secured.

7. Ask where the oil you are considering was produced; make sure it's an FDA compliant lab to ensure safety and quality.

8. Look for full spectrum CBD; this means the oil contains CBD and all the other cannabinoids, terpenes, and nutrients that are found in the whole cannabis plant. Some products are only isolates (isolated from all the other compounds). While CBD isolate does have its benefits (like in a broad spectrum THC Free formula), many experts maintain that in order to harness all the benefits, that full-spectrum is the way to go.

What is Hemp CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is the prominent natural cannabinoid component found in cannabis. Cannabinols are natural compounds found in cannabis. CBD is the cannabinoid that holds the greatest therapeutic potential for improved health, with a wide range of potential medical uses. Make sure you use all natural organically grown CBD oils, and that your product, like ours, contains no synthetics. BluLeaf Naturals Full Spectrum CBD Oil contains nothing but premium Hemp flower extracted CBD and MCT Coconut oils.

Will this product make me high?

Hemp extracted CBD is not psychotropic.  This means that CBD does not change a person's state of mind, or make you high. It may make you feel physically better, and more relaxed. (Hemp CBD has no more than .3% of THC).  For your reassurance though, we do offer a broad-spectrum THC Free blend in our sublingual drops.

Where do you get your CBD?

Our products are extracted from natural organically grown Kentucky Hemp plants; we know from what farms our product comes.  Kentucky is renowned for quality hemp.  We start with the best, to offer you  a premium product.

How does it work?

Cannabinoids, including CBD, produce effects in the body by attaching to specific receptors. Humans produce certain cannabinoids naturally, and have two receptors called CB1 and CB2. Each receptor affects different parts of the brain/body.  Hemp extracted CBD helps with the receptor that deals with pain, inflammation, and other health issues (CB2).

Will it help pain?

A study in the Journal of Experimental Medicine found that CBD significantly reduced chronic inflammation and pain in their research.  Many studies are being done now to show all the health benefits of natural CBD oil.

How can CBD oil help me?

Research, completed and ongoing, shows that CBD oil may help with inflammation, pain, epilepsy, glaucoma, Parkinsons, seizures, quitting smoking, as a tool against cancer, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, Type 1 Diabetes, acne, Alzheimers, sleep disorders, and much more.  Of course, if you are under a physicians care, make certain that CBD oil is right for you before using.

What is Sublingual?

The sublingual glands lie under the mucous membrane covering the bottom of the mouth beneath the tongue. In the floor of the mouth is a small fold called a sublingual papilla, from which the ducts of the submandibular salivary glands open.   When you put our drops under the tongue (sublingually), the sublingual gland receives it fairly quickly (hold the product there about 30 seconds or more before swallowing).  Basically,  when a medicine is placed under the tongue, it diffuses and because of all the capillaries there, the medicine has a pretty direct route into your bloodstream. This results is the oil working faster.  It bypasses the stomach, intestines and liver, thereby going directly into your bloodstream.

What is 'White Labeled'

A vast majority of CBD oil products are made by large generic CBD oil producers (third party suppliers). CBD oil retailers/wholesalers pay this large generic company to put their label on the large company's product. So a lot of the CBD oil 'out there' is the same stuff.  Nothing special.  Just large vat, mass produced product.  That is not to say it is all bad; it isn't (but some is).  It is to say that it is all the same, with no TLC thrown in. Some of these massive companies use imported hemp and other imported products.  Imported hemp can contain chemicals and worse.  That is why it is so important to know where your product comes from.  BluLeaf is small batch, artfully and safely crafted, for your peace of mind.

Why is Third Party Analysis important?

There is no rule that CBD oil companies have to offer Third Party Analysis, but a good company will.  A third party analysis means that your product, which your are ingesting or putting on your body as a topical,  has been tested by an independent lab to assure the product is free from heavy metals, pesticides, microbiological contaminants and more.  It shows the strength of the CBD in the product, and the types of cannabinoids as well. The potency, or strength, is vital so that the proper dosage can be determined.  It's a valuable tool for you, the consumer.  And it's one way to make sure you are buying your product from a reputable, professional, and transparent provider.

Is this product legal?

Absolutely!  Our products are Kentucky grown. Kentucky has legalized the commercial growing of industrial hemp. Our Scientists work with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture to ensure we are compliant with all laws regarding hemp extracts.  Section 7606 of federal Agricultural Act of 2014 says regardless of another federal law, including the controlled substance act, that if the growing and cultivation of industrial hemp is allowed under a state's law, and overseen by that state's Department of Agriculture, then the product can be manufactured and sold as part of the state’s approved hemp pilot program(s).  We are compliant under Kentucky's Department of Agriculture's Hemp Research Pilot Program.  (UPDATE:  With the signing of the 2018 Farm Bill - signed December 20, 2018 - hemp is now considered an agricultural commodity nationwide and thus no longer on the Controlled Substance Act list, and no longer considered 'illegal',  although some states still are debating the subject regarding extracts.  Check local state laws.)

UPDATE:  THE 2018 FARM BILL REMOVED HEMP FROM THE CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE ACT LISTING.  HEMP IS NOW CONSIDERED A LEGAL AGRICULTURAL COMMODITY.

What is MCT Coconut oil?

Coconut oil is good for you;  that's been proven time and again.  MCT means 'medium chain trygliceride'.  MCTs are so useful to our bodies, that we want plenty!  MCT coconut oil has many benefits. For instance, it offers antibacterial & antiviral properties, is easy to digest, helps suppress hunger, provides quick energy and may improve insulin sensitivity; these are just a few known benefits.

Why does BluLeaf use MCT coconut oil instead of hemp or another carrier oil?

Medium chain triglycerides (MCT) are more easily digested than other fats.  The healthy fat from coconut oil can help boost energy, fight off bad 'bugs', and promote heart health.  MCT contains three primary types of fatty acids; lauric, capric and caprylic.  All of these prove extremely beneficial to the body, with lauric being beneficial in fighting bacteria, fungi and viruses, while capric is very anti  inflammatory. Caprylic acid can help restore the stomach to proper acidity and has strong probiotic properties.  All of these are powerhouses that offer much more than briefly listed here. The primary reason BluLeaf uses MCT Coconut oil with its CBD oil is that the body takes up, or absorbs MCT quickly and easily; hence helping the CBD be utilzed by the body more quickly and efficiently.

What is the Entourage Effect

Growing evidence suggests that medicinal substances could be more effective in their natural and complete state. This is called the 'Entourage Effect', when all the components within the cannabis plant are used in order to produce a stronger influence when interacting with the body, than when any one of those components is used alone.  It's synergy.  When the whole plant is used (full spectrum) you enjoy the benefits of all the cannabinoids, terpenes and more (These are just two of more than 85 healthful compounds found in cannabis}.  This is why BluLeaf Naturals products are 'full spectrum', or whole plant products.

Do you wholesale your product to retailers?

Yes, we do offer a wholesale program to qualified retailers.  We would love for you to carry our quality products!  If you are interested in a wholesale account please contact us contact us, or text or call 859-806-0521 or email BluLeafNaturals@gmail.com. We are based in Lexington, KY  NOTE:  If you are a BluLeaf Retailer we will gladly come and teach your employees facts about our products; both to help sales and to be  sure your staff is well-informed.  We offer educational tools as well.

What are Terpenes?

Terpenes give the cannabis plant family and other plants, their aromas and tastes. Terpenes, or terpinoids, are the basis of aromatherapy.  About 200 terpenes are in the cannabis family of plants, but only a few are strong enough to affect aroma.  Terpenes can also protect a plant from pests, and more.  It turns out that terpenes are also good for people.  See this study by Dr. Ethan Russo in the British Journal of Pharmacology, discussing the therapeutic gifts of terpenoids.  Each batch of BluLeaf CBD goes through third party analysis, and in that analysis we get a 'terpene profile', to show what levels of assorted terpenes are in that particular batch of CBD oil.  Suffice to say, you want your terpenes!  This is also why you want only a full-spectrum product, to take advantage of all the cannabinoids and terpenes, and their beneficial interactions (entourage effect). Here are a few you should hope to find in your CBD oils:

B-caryophyllene

Beta-caryophyllene helps activate our body's natural cannabinoid receptors (CB2). Research shows it is an anti-inflammatory, is analgesic, reduces bacteria, is an antioxidant, eases gastrointestinal issues, can kill bacteria and fungi, relieves anxiety and so much more.  Research shows B-caryophyllene and CBD make a great team, as this terpenoid may enhance the effects of your CBD oil. This is why you want to use FULL SPECTRUM CBD oils to get the benefit of all the cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and more.  You can scan BluLeaf's QR code to read the report of our third party analysis.

Humulene

Humulene is found in the cannabis plant, in hops, sage, ginseng and other plants.  It is sometimes called a-humulene

or a-caryophyllene.  Research shows it has analgesic properties, antibacterial properties, is an anti-inflammatory and is anti-proliferative (inhibits bad cell growth) and may be anorective (decrease appetite).  When researching what terpenes are in your CBD product, this one is a great one, second only to b-caryophyllene.

Guaiol

Guaiol gives cypress wood and other plants their 'piney' aroma.  From ancient times the Guaiacum plant has been used for it's therapeutic properties.  It has anti-microbial and analgesic properties, and is considered a natural insecticide.  Research shows Guaiol has diuretic properties as well.  One more of the many terpenes in hemp and other cannabis family plants that can benefit you.
